Meet Butchie

Albert (Butchie) Buchtan, 58, has been a lifelong resident of southwestern Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Mindy, along with his stepdaughters, Malanna and Lila, reside in Carmichaels. His daughter, Victoria, resides in Cranberry.

He is the proud business owner of Advanced Masonry, Advanced Equipment Rental, and ATA Holdings. He serves on the Carmichaels Area School Board of Directors and the Cumberland Township Planning Commission. Butchie has discovered that he is driven by the passion for change and he is looking forward to making a difference in the lives of local residents.

Butchie came from very humble beginnings living in a single wide mobile home with six siblings. His father, Emil, was a coal miner and his mother, Diane, bartended to make ends meet. Butchie witnessed firsthand how hard his parents worked to make ends meet and there started his first life lesson… “work hard for what you have”. This has stayed with him throughout his life.

Upon his high school graduation in 1985, he attended Beaver’s Masonry in Manassas, Virginia. He finished a four-year apprenticeship in just two years and went on to gain many employment opportunities and promotions along the way including experience with the following companies: Hughes Masonry, Curtis Masonry, Cost Construction, Marsa Masonry, and MI Friday. In addition he has been a member of the Bricklayers Allied Craftworkers Local 9 for 22 years.

In 2011, fueled by the desire to make a change for the better in the masonry industry and support from many of his customers, Butchie created Advanced Masonry. His vision was simple- be the best! He has excelled in creating many jobs for people and has fulfilled many construction projects in the local area.

Additionally, he continues to support many charitable endeavors through his businesses like scholastic sports, St. Jude’s, and the Carmichaels Area Historical Society.

Butchie is extremely active in the local community but he sees that he can make a broader impact by serving as Senator. With the unwavering support of his family and friends, he is taking a chance for change. He says, “It is time to support our local residents and veterans. I am the change we need and the voice you deserve!”
